HANOL Spirit

The Succession of HANOL Spirit

The philosophy of HANOL Spirit can be found in the statement of the progenitor, "Unite and Benefit all in Existence."

As mentioned, HANOL-GYO regards all founders of religions and awakened beings (Dangun, Buddha, Jesus, Lao-tzu, Confucius, etc.) as teachers of enlightenment and awakening.
Thus, the Founding Father of Korea, DANGUN, is not worshiped but his teachings of HANOL Spirit are respected and honored.

Based on the inherent Spirit of HANOL, HANOL-GYO provides the practical ways to transcend the egoic state of mind and to awaken one-self in order to retain NAOL, our true nature- the original state of consciousness of being with divine potentials.

The Silent Empty Chair, the Reflections of Invisibility and the Silent Nature of Truth

In the churches and temples of HANOL-GYO, there are no figures to worship.
Instead there is an Empty Chair in the Sanctuary: symbolizing invisibility and stillness.

It snows in the winter but snow is not the essence of winter.
Snow is an attribute: the expression of winter, the reflection of winter.
Winter itself has no form.
Nevertheless the invisible essence of winter express its nature through various forms of winter.

Just like the seasons, the law of nature has no form.
The Principle of Truth, HANOL, has no form either.
Nevertheless the invisible essence of HANOL express itself through all that exist.

The Empty Chair in the sanctuary of the HANOL temple reflects the invisibility and silent nature of the Truth, HANOL.
The invisibility and stillness also reflects NAOL: the nature of our quintessence, our true place of allocation beyond our physical form of self and mental form of ego.
It signifies our true nature that can be attained through enlightenment and awakening, NAOL, which is one with the true nature of all existence, HANOL.

The Land where the Morning Sun Rises: the True meaning of ‘Awakening’

The Land of the Morning Calm, the Eastern Land where the Sun rises are all designations about Korea.
The famous poet, Tagore referred to Korea as “the illumination of the East” and the old name for Korea was Chosun, meaning the Country of Early Morning Sunrise.

Korea's National flag symbolizes the ancient diagram of the
principle of Universal Truth.
The native name for Korea is HANKOOK, meaning the Nation of HAN.

Korea is the only nation that has been celebrating the Awakening (of Sky) day, GAECHUNJUL(October 3rd) as Korea’s National Foundation Day.

The Awakening of the Sky means inner enlightenment in which the light of Consciousness shines over the dark unconscious mind of the Ego world to end the mental delusion and human suffering just as the morning sunlight opens up the dark sky and dissolves the darkness.

If we consider the First Awakening to be Man evolving from beast to the so-called Lord of all Creation by using intellect and transcending the primitive nature, the Second Awakening we are facing is transforming from an Ego-consciousness to Divine consciousness, NAOL, by breaking free from the direct control of Egoic mind and transcending the impulse of tamed mind structure.
As the rising sun dissolves the darkness, the Rising Consciousness of Truth will eventually dissolve the dark cloudy consciousness of human suffering.
