Awakening Art by Enlightening Artist: Introduced by a former young spiritual leader from Korea expressing his spiritual 'Awakening and Enlightenment' through the new way of art. His art provided a basis for the 1st and the 2nd reformation of Hanol-gyo.
Furthermore, Trans-Art played a major role as a driving force of the ‘Hanol Spiritual and Cultural movement of Art’, a new way of participating in Hanol spiritual teachings without religious obligation. The Hanol Spiritual and Cultural movement of Art - the integration of art and spirituality, can be considered as a revolutionary approach to the religious innovation and spiritual evolution in the face of an intellectual and spiritual singularity.
● Foreword
The Artist, Sewon Shin was a young innovative leader of a Hanol foundation who retired to introduce a new way of art called Trans-Art.
In Part 1 [Optical Awakening], he integrates 'Spiritual-meditation into Art'.
In Part 2 [Tasting Art], he integrates 'Taste with Art'.
In Part 3 [Mobile Art], he combines 'Technology with Art'.
The artist expressed ‘Enlightenment and Awakening’ in the form of art, based on his own experience.
He was well known in his youth as a prodigious painter until he discontinued his art and majored in Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford University.
However, the unexpected and sudden passing of his father, who was the founder of the Hanol religion (the religious re-establishment of the Korean national founding principle based on the philosophy of spiritual transcendence), eventually led him to return to art expressing ‘spiritual transcendence' based on his own experience.
The artist expresses the powerful and spiritually empowering inspirations from the ‘transcendental-state of consciousness’ in his art, based on his own witnessing and the self-confirmation of the enlightening and awakening experience.
By using the multi-dimensional expression style that he acquired from his spiritual experience, his inspirational energy from the ‘transcendental-state of consciousness’ is directly reflected into his art.
Trans-Art (Trans-form art, Trans-Ego Art, Transcendental Art)
Throughout the history of art, ‘Art’ was ‘Form’.
Now, ‘Art’ may transcend ‘Form’ through Trans-Art.
Trans-Art is ‘Art’ that transcends the conventional form of art.
The artist attempts to express the ‘Enlightenment and Awakening’, which is beyond ‘Form’, by using the multi-dimensional expression method that he acquired from his own experience of ‘enlightening and awakening’ process.
Trans-Art can also be considered as an evolved form of Art.
It suggests a new way of creating, experiencing, dealing and expressing Art.
Firstly, it is a new way of creating art: the artist makes it clear that only the art works that are produced (initiated and completed) in the trans-ego state, are chosen as ‘Trans-art’ to be introduced.
Secondly, it proposes a new way of experiencing art: it is to change the ‘State of Consciousness’ and to transcend the ‘Ego-mind activity’ by the new method of perception: Trans-Perception which is to perceive not just a form of art but the formlessness of art.
Thirdly, it offers a new way of dealing art: it is a new system of on-line gallery network which deals not just a material piece of art but also an intellectual property right of art.
Finally, it provides a new way of expressing art: In Part 1: Multi-Dimensional artworks, the artist expresses the dynamic process of the transformation in creation of art with multi-dimensional perspectives that he acquired from his personal spiritual experience.
In part 2, he integrates 'Taste into Art' and in part 3, he combines 'technology with Art' in order to express 'the beauty of enlightenment and awakening', which is beyond 'Form', by using 'Form of Trans-Art'.
His art played a key role in the 1st and the 2nd reformation of Hanol-gyo.
+ The following explanation about Trans-Art shows the history of how the Trans-Art came to play a key role in the reformation of Hanol-gyo in the first place, thereby showing a new perspective in religious innovation and spiritual evolution.
